TRANSIT took note of this article today, which is really two articles in one.
In the article, Water taxis an alternative for Penangites, Minister of Transport Ong Tee Keat speaks up in favour of a proposal for water taxis in Penang – apparently mooted by the Penang Port Commission.
The funny thing is that many other people have mooted the same proposal for water taxies – including the Penang state government. Hence, a question that needs to be asked: Why is Ong Tee Keat speaking up for the director of Penang Ports Commission?
Never mind the idea of water taxis (which may be a blessing in disguise) … How about fixing the horrible state of landa.k.a “regular” taxi service in Penang? Honestly, considering the level of service and quality of what private bus and taxi operators gave Penangites for many, many years, I would be a bit hesitant to enter a water taxi in Penang.
