4th ITT proposed – to be located in Subang Jaya

TRANSIT took note of this interesting article outlining a proposed 4th Integrated Transport Terminal to be built at the interchange of KTM Komuter and RapidKL LRT services at Subang Jaya.

The proposed 4th ITT will have space for stage buses and taxi bays, but there is no information about space for Intercity and Express buses.

You may recall TRANSIT’s own recent proposal to build a fully integrated transport terminal at Shah Alam’s stadium area. The proposed Subang Jaya ITT would be part of the Sime Darby Subang Jaya City Centre development.

SUBANG JAYA: Residents of Subang Jaya, USJ Subang and Sunway can expect improvement in public transport with the building of an Integrated Transport Terminal (ITT ) in Subang Jaya to support the LRT Kelana Jaya line extension project.

Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) town planning director Yunos Kashib told The Malay Mail the ITT would integrate the LRT and KTM Subang commuter stations.

“The proposed transport hub is a joint venture between Sime Darby Property Bhd and Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad as the asset owner of the LRT station,” he said.

“MPSJ has received the plan from Sime Darby Property and is waiting for the Traffic Impact Assessment report before it can provide them with full approval.”

[TRANSIT: Knowing what we know of the area, and an earlier Traffic Impact Assessment – not to mention the area’s councillors and RA – it is not going to be easy to get approval for the ITT at that location.]

Yunos said the ITT would augur well for the improvement of public transport in Subang Jaya and the surrounding residential and commercial areas.

“The ITT is part of the upcoming Subang Jaya City Centre (SJCC) by Sime Darby Property,” he said.

“A Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) sub-station that currently occupies four acres at the proposed site will be relocated and a land strip adjacent to the KTM Komuter station and the railway tracks will be transformed into a mixed development site.”

He said no time-frame had been given for the ITT and SJCC to take off.

“There will be several skybridges at the SJCC and the public can have easy access to the LRT and KTM stations and other buildings without having to venture onto the roads.”

It is learnt the ITT would include facilities for bus and taxi parking bays as well as drop-off area for private vehicles.

Also, to accommodate free flow of traffic at the integrated rail stations, RapidKL feeder and stage buses, taxis and private vehicles would only be allowed to disembark passengers at the transport hub.

The ITT would also provide park-and-ride facilities for commuters who wish to park their vehicles before taking the LRT or KTM trains.

Main features of the ITT

  • Feeder and inter-city stage bus and taxi bays
  • Connected to LRT and KTM stations via skybridge
  • Drop-off area for LRT and KTM passengers
  • Part of Subang Jaya City Centre

This is interesting. I hope (if it is build) the ITT-4 can have easy access from Federal Highway rather than the need to enter Subang Jaya first, esp on peak hours congestion..

Shah Alam should also has one, if & when they have a MRT line. 1 MRT line – 1 @ 2 ITT (Bus hub)

We’re trying to find out more information about the proposal.

The model itself looks pretty confusing as well – at least in that image. If what we see in the foreground is meant to be the railway stations (KTM with the curved and covered roof) – then the station above it with two separate rails appears more like a monorail than an LRT.

The curving ramp behind has proportions similar to the LRT guideway – but based on what we know of the route of the guideway (and where that curve will be located) then the building in the model is actually Subang Parade…

In other words, the model is totally out of context and should not be considered.

But we will have to see what we can find out from MPSJ

If they do build an ITT at Subang Jaya (assuming it can get past the residents and MPSJ) then they must also consider a shuttle train to Subang Airport.

Hopefully it can be materialised in these 5 years and I hope this project is not another TBS-BTS shenenigans. Subang Jaya traffic jam is MORE THAN ENOUGH!!! I hope they can maintain it properly and prove the world wrong. No more first class facilities and third world maintenance!!

@Azmi

There is a possibility that they could look at decking over the KTM Station – as the Subang Jaya City Centre is going to be a multiple level project. But if that is the case, the location of the parking lot in the immediate foreground makes even less sense.
